BP8_Poll Everywhere Web 2.0 tool

Do you need the attention of your "texting" students? Tired of fighting the cell phone issue in class? Don't beat them, join them and use the cell phones to your advantage. Ask the content questions in multiple choice, Short Answer or True and False question forms and allow the students to use free texting to answer the question.  The students can also join the poll through the internet URL's.

Speaking their technology language is an excellent way to get and maintain their interests. The students can create their own polls to support projects and show results in the report.  Some of these features are available through the upgrade.

Give Poll Everywhere a chance and see if your student's consider you a "cool" teacher!

  1. I really like this! It gets back to that feedback option, which many teachers don't do officially. They have sites like ratemyteacher.com and ratemyprofessor.com, but they are like secret sites where students can post anonymously. I think being proactive about your feedback and lessons used in your class is really great since it tells your students that you care! This can be used for SO much and it gives students a voice in your classroom. I love it!

  2. This is really a neat tool. You are so right when you talk about not fighting the use of cell phones in schools, but finding a way to use them in an meaningful and productive way. Not only are you using the technology that they are using and want to use in school, but you are engaging them in a very meaningful way with Poll Everywhere. I love the fact that you can get instant feedback on the web.
I love the fact that you get it. You blogged that the students can create their own polls and do their own research. That is where the power of this tool really shines. It is using their technologies and turning them in to learning tools.
BTW, I consider you a "cool teacher"!
